Game Of Thrones: 12 Ups And 4 Downs From Season 6

11. The Arrival Of Lyanna Mormont, Saviour Of The Seven Kingdoms

Nevermind Lyanna Mormont pledging her allegiance to Jon Snow; everyone in that room should be turning around and bending the knee to the Lady of House Mormont.

Lyanna Mormont appeared in just three episodes this year, but no one made their presence felt more or became such a fan-favourite as the 10-year-old leader of Bear Island.

She was a scene stealer right from the off, when Jon, Sansa, and Davos went to visit her. Instantly she was talking to them in a way many others wouldn't dare: fierce, loyal, intelligent, and protective of her people. She eventually agreed to support House Stark, but it was very much on her terms.

Lyanna then didn't have a lot to do in Battle of the Bastards, save for turning up on the battlefield to briefly glare at Ramsay Bolton. You might question the presence of a child at this scene, but this is Lyanna Mormont, and if they'd just had her stare angrily at Ramsay and demand he back down, the whole thing would've been settled without such bloodshed.

Her final - and best - moment came in the season finale. While all the other Northern Lords, grown men who fancy themselves noble leaders and fine warriors, were standing around staring at their boots, it was Lyanna Mormont who led the call for Jon Snow to be King in the North, and powerfully shamed the other Northerners into following suit. Lyanna Mormont is the leader the North deserves. If Jon has any sense, he'll wait a decade and then marry her, because not even the Night King would dare stand against such a duo.
