While Season 2 introduced us to the Wildlings, it's not until Season 3 we get to meet their King, Mance Rayder. But first, we have to meet the man Jon Snow thinks is the King, Tormund Giantsbane.

Heading into Season 8, Tormund - who is alive - is part of the fabric of the show, and one of Jon's closest friends and advisors. So much so, it's easy to forget where it all began: sitting in a tent, gnawing away on some chicken, and being a bit of a dick to Jon. He takes a liking to Jon over the course of the season, but he never loses sight of what he really is, and maintains an element of mistrust that then runs into Season 4.

In some respects, Tormund is still the same: the bear-like strength, love of a good fight, and sense of humour. But you can see from how he supports Jon to bend the knee, and his loyalty to Jon too, just how far he's come, especially in light of Mance Rayder's death. He might not be a main character, but he's had some great character development, and yet is still wonderful from the off too.
