Game Of Thrones: 15 Plot Threads The Show Totally Abandoned

8. The Lord Of Light & The Flames

Kinvara leads us on to a few other points surrounding the Lord of Light, a lot of which don't get followed up on. For Kinvara herself, she spooks Varys by telling him of the voice he heard in the flames - but what did he hear? We've still got no idea, despite that looking like it might factor into his story.

Similarly, we saw the Hound look into the flames and have a vision, which looked like it was destined for bigger things. The Hound's vision did come to pass in Beyond The Wall, and he tried to fight the army of the dead at Winterfell, before going to fight and kill his brother, all of which might have been through the Lord of Light, but the exact purpose of the Lord of Light with him was left unclear.

Then there are the resurrections, carried out at the will of the Lord of Light. While the reasoning is mostly 'to fight the White Walkers', there's a little more left unexplained. Beric states back in Season 3 that each time he comes back, he loses memories and is less himself, but we never really see that play out with him, nor does it appear to happen with Jon really, despite George R.R. Martin saying people brought back this way are like "fire wights".
