5. Jennifer Ehle (Catelyn Stark)

The Replacement: Michelle Fairley

As with Tamzin Merchant, Jennifer Ehle's performance in Game Of Thrones is probably destined to never see the light of die (unless HBO release it as an extra feature with the complete box set eventually). She was cast as Catelyn Stark for the pilot and was a big fan of George RR Martin's books.

When the pilot was optioned, Ehle passed on the commitment, not wanting a heavy schedule so close to having had a child. It was just too soon for her and the role passed to Michelle Fairley - and thankfully so, given how excellent she is during the Red Wedding in particular.
