Game Of Thrones: 18 Terrible Ideas That Were Great To Watch

12. Sending Theon To BalonGame Of Thrones Robb And Theon Oh, Robb. So brave, so young, so honorable...and so the son of Ned Stark. In the first episode of season 2, we see him making a mistake so colossal that even Catelyn sees that it's a bad idea. This marks the first instance in which Robb fatefully ignores his mother's advice. In fighting a war to avenge his father's death, Robb decides that it is definitely a good plan to recruit the help of a man - Balon Greyjoy -against whom his father had already once gone to war, a result of which was the deaths of several of Balon's children. Robb's emissary to this man? Theon Greyjoy, Balon's only remaining son, who had spent his formative years as an extremely well-treated hostage of the Starks, growing to consider Ned a second father. Robb never really stopped to think that Balon might not take so well to helping the son of the man who kidnapped and held as hostage his heir.
