Game Of Thrones: 20 Most Shocking Moments Ever
7. King Bran The Broken
Who will sit on the Iron Throne at the end? Given the show was called Game of Thrones, and its early years were dominated not just by the War of the Five Kings, but a revolving door of monarchs, it wasn’t just a fair question, it was often *the* question. Would it be Jon Snow, who was growing into the role of the main hero? Would it be Daenerys, who desperately wants it AND believes it to be here? Stannis, the seemingly rightful ruler? Joffrey? Tommen? Cersei? Sansa? Gendry?
You could run through a lot of candidates before settling on Bran Stark, the young boy who lost the ability to walk, but learned to fly. Who journeyed beyond the Wall, and lived. Who became the Three-Eyed Raven. Who missed an entire season.
Bran does make sense. There’s plenty, in both his character, the journey he’s been on, the imagery and meaning around him, and who he is, for it to really work. But the only person who’d be able to have seen this coming in the series finale is, well, Bran himself.
