Game Of Thrones: 25 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Need To See
6. Famous Swords
Regardless of however many swords Littlefinger has counted in the Iron Throne, whats clear is that theres a lot of em. And within the big melded mess of steel are a couple of blades taken straight from other epics. These include Orlando Blooms sword from the Ridley Scott film Kingdom of Heaven, and the weapon known as the Robin of Locksley, said to have belonged to Robin Hood. The most notable of these though is Glamdring, Gandalfs sword from Lord of the Rings. While theres obviously a necessity to these being included - they were probably going spare in the props cupboard - it can also be seen as a nod to these other films, especially the inclusion of the wizard's weapon.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
