Jon and Tormund probably expected a bit of resistance from the free-folk they were sailing over to Hardhome for. After all, as is pointed out many times, the Crows are their natural enemy, so theyd be understandably reluctant to join forces with them and head back to Castle Black. If this was the only problem they faced then they wouldve been alright, but there was a bigger threat to come, one they could only hope to defeat together. In a shock twist of Jon Snow actually knowing something, that threat started to arrive as the wights descended while they all stood around arguing about what their ancestors would or wouldnt think. The hordes of the undead rained down upon Jon, Tormund and Co. in scenes that rival pretty much anything witnessed on The Walking Dead. They dont pose as much of a threat as their masters, but still possess enough strength as well as overwhelming numbers to be a dangerous enemy in their own right. Their biggest moment comes when newcomer Karsi, who manages to make a very big impact in such a short space of time, is faced with wight children not long after saying goodbye to her own kids. Shes unable to fight them off, and unfortunately we have to see a very promising new character depart all too quickly. Although we probably haven't seen the last of her, not exactly anyway.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
