Game Of Thrones: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From The Gift

8. The Flayed Woman - Down

After last week, it seemed there could be no more misery heaped on Sansa Stark. But then you remember that this is Game of Thrones so of course there€™s going to be more misery heaped on Sansa Stark, because she€™s Sansa Stark. After she tries to appeal to Reek€™s more Theon nature, she gives him the candle her Northern friend gave her, the one that signals she is in need of help. We€™re led to believe that Theon is actually going to light the candle and place it in the window of the highest tower, or at least try, but then he totally Reeks-out and goes to Ramsay with it instead. This has predictably disastrous results, as Ramsay walks his new wife across the courtyard of Winterfell in order to show her something: the flayed remains of the kindly old woman. The North may remember, but a good memory isn€™t going to help Sansa anytime soon. That weapon she subtly picked up just might though, or it may just be there to give more false hope in the never-ending series of unfortunate events that is her existence.
