As satisfying as it is to see Daenerys struggle with accepting counsel from others, and as commendable as it is for her to reach a compromise between her own ideals and the customs of the Meereenese, was it really necessary for the show to portray her change of heart while basking in the afterglow of an interlude with Daario Naharis?

Emilia Clarke is a lovely young woman, and Michiel Huisman isn't exactly hard on the eyes, but that Dany’s firm stance was shaken by Daario’s words while both lounge naked in her bed paints Daenerys in an unflattering light. There’s certainly nothing wrong with Dany finding a lover in Daario; going cold turkey in the sexual department after a marriage with Khal Drogo couldn’t have been easy, and what’s the point of being queen if she can’t have her pick of the handsome sellswords laying around her pyramid? Nevertheless, the character is weakened as Daario easily uses her vulnerability to sway her position as a ruler.
