Game Of Thrones: 8 Clues For How It Will (And Won't) End

6. Our Friends In The North

Game of Thrones Night King Viserion
HBO

The remaining Stark children have achieved their final forms now. Jon is the King in the North, Bran is the Three-Eyed Raven; Arya is a Faceless Man and Sansa is the Lady of Winterfell; all committed to standing together to defend Westeros.

A theory has been flying around that (his warging turning to timewarping as it did with Hodor), Bran will be revealed to be/will become the Night King. While enticing, it doesn’t necessarily advance the narrative any further: whatever the case, the Night King still needs stopping.

But what if the Night King is stopped - and someone needs to take his place? After all, killing him may destroy all the dead he raised, but it still leaves umpteen other White Walkers running around with their own undead thralls. What if Bran is fated to return the White Walkers to the far north? We’ve seen Bran witness the making of the White Walkers and the green magic used to do so. It would need someone coldblooded enough to slide a dragonglass shard into his heart to complete the spell, something Arya is now fully capable of doing to her brother if necessary.

That leaves Sansa. She’s already exactly where she needs to be, and where her story has been leading her all along: she smells like smoke, because she’s been through fire. Who better to keep the icy North together?
