Game Of Thrones: 8 Clues For How It Will (And Won't) End
1. Night Of The Living Dead
With two major antagonists remaining, there’s no contest as to who will bite the bullet first. Once Cersei’s duplicitous shenanigans have been dealt with, it’s the Night King and the army of the dead that will occupy the majority of the narrative.
Again, there’s not enough space left to tell a story the audience isn’t already expecting - so ignore those fan theories over whether the Night King is actually evil. The demonic dead are the Big Bad to be defeated - and that defeat will occur in the fifth episode of season eight.
It’s been telegraphed: but the Night King’s passing will see every wight he created - the majority of the army of the dead - crumble to a boneless heap. The key to doing so will probably fall to Bran and Jon: the spirit and the strong right arm.
That leaves the final feature length episode to wrap up the remaining story arc and lay the narrative to rest. Everyone, great or small, will have their moment of closure. That’s something the writers of this show share with George R.R. Martin - they understand that it’s the compelling, fascinating, flawed characters that have kept everyone hooked, far more than the dragons and the skulduggery.
