Game Of Thrones: 8 Moments That Foreshadowed SPOILER'S Death
5. Blue Eyes
Melisandre promised Arya that they would meet again, and also tells her that she sees within her: "Brown eyes. Blue eyes. Green eyes. Eyes you'll close forever."
It had seemed, for the most part, like a reference to the Faceless Men: to the disguises she would don, to the many people she'd kill, and, generally, the Many-Faced God, with "eyes you'll close forever" meaning death.
Looking at it more literally, then the Waif had blue eyes, while Poliver, Meryn Trant, and Walder Frey had brown. But this episode decides to revisit the scene and give it a new context. Melisandre slyly changes the order around, ending on "blue eyes" so that Arya understands her full meaning, and knows it's the truth because they've seen each other again as promised.
With that, Arya knows what to do. Blue eyes she'll close forever. Kill the NIght King. Does this *really* count as foreshadowing? Sort of. The moment itself is definitely foreshadowing something, albeit in a much more vague kind of way. The showrunners have revealed they decided three years ago Arya would kill the Night King, so they weren't thinking of that here, but they have retconned it to make it work, which it more or less does.
