Game Of Thrones: 8 Times Jon Snow Really Did Know Nothing

5. When He Fell For Ygritte

When Jon first meets the wildling Ygritte, as part of his and Qhorin Halfhand€™s ranging, he is very resistant to her advances. She flirts and makes sexual overtures to him, but being a) a brother of the Night€™s Watch, b) the son of the honourable Ned Stark, and c) a virgin, he doesn't reciprocate her actions, instead being very wary of her and even drawing his sword at one point. However, when he €˜betrays€™ Qhorin, he and Ygritte steadily become closer. He knows that it's an important relationship in order to win over the trust of the free-folk, and has sex with her to prove his loyalty to the wildlings, but it ends up being much more than that. The pair fall in love, but it was obviously a relationship doomed to fail, even if Jon wasn€™t aware of it. It results in Ygritte shooting him with arrows, and later in the attack on The Wall she is shot by Olly and dies in Jon€™s arms. Their relationship was the start of €˜you know nothing€™, and it proved to be tragically true for the two of them.
