Game Of Thrones: All The Hidden Messages & Meanings In Season 8 Teaser Trailer

5. Jon Snow Grows Old

Each of the Starks gets a statue, and each contains details that can be read into. Let's start with Jon Snow, whose statue looks like it was carved by the same guy who made the infamous bust of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Looking like if Game of Thrones was recast in 10 years time with Charlie Hunnam playing Jon Snow, the meaning is quite clear: Jon Snow gets to grow old, or at least a fair bit older than he currently is. Given how perilous the final season is going to be, the idea this teaser is telling us Jon survives is a big deal, even if it's not a surprising one. He has already died once, after all, and this is his story above all others.

He's clad in winter furs, which makes sense because that's the look we know on him best, but it also suggests that he isn't destined for warmer climes. He doesn't look particularly regal, despite the likelihood of him becoming King, although that could simply be attributed to the person who carved these not being great, or having never seen Jon before (there's also a chance this is SUPPOSED to be Jon as he is now, but the person carving them is just terrible, and the beard makes it look older). Since the statues, were they to actually happen, would be built after Season 8, this could instead be a suggestion that Jon actually does die, and no one left alive recalls by that point what he looks like.
