The Ending

As already qualified, Ser Davos Seaworth, first of his name, the Onion Knight ends up as part of the Small Council and entrusted as the Master of Ships. It's great that he got a good ending, because he's been through a ridiculous amount (and multiple battles), despite professing himself to be a poor fighter.

Clearly, he's a good survivor and that matters more.

But Wait...

This is in no way on the scale of the potential failure of the Seven Kingdoms when the Banter Council drives Bran's reign into the ground, but it's something we probably should explore nonetheless, because even though he's come through multiple battles, Davos might have an issue closer to home. He has seen war, pestilence and despair, but once he gets back home to the wife he has openly neglected since he turned up in the second season, he's going to see fury like he's never experienced.

Marya Seaworth might be a forgiving woman, but Davos went to sea with her only son and then didn't bother to go home to console his grieving wife. And given that Salladhor Saan promises Davos that he will gather his bones so that Marya can wear them around her neck once he's dead, there's a suggestion that she's a formidable woman.
