7. Daenerys Targaryen
The Mother of Dragons was a towering figure. Dany's rise to power formed the backbone of the entire show, and watching her free slaves, form new allegiances and move ever closer to the Iron Throne was the height of entertainment.
With her three dragons behind her, Daenerys was always going to be one of the show's most important figures, maybe even the one destined to sit on the throne.
Her ending, where she snaps and lays waste King's Landing, mirrors that of her father, the Mad King, and whilst this was fitting, it hit all the wrong notes because of its poor pacing and lack of development.
Still, Dany remains one of the show's best characters, and with every passing season it was easy to see why.
