Game Of Thrones: Is Gendry Really Cersei Lannister's Son?
1. There's Not Really Time
Perhaps the biggest thing working against all of this is that, quite frankly, there isn't really enough time to see it through. Only four episodes stand between now and the end of the series, and at least one of those is going to be given over to an epic battle.
Within those remaining episodes, then, there's the not-so-small matter of Jon's parentage, and what it means for him, Daenerys, and Westeros as a whole to figure out. There's Cersei to deal with. The Night King could still be a threat. It has to wrap up character and story arcs going back eight years. How on Earth would they find time to fit in ANOTHER shock parentage/rightful King reveal?
There's also the question of who'd even be able to say. Cersei might not know who Gendry is or what he looks like he. The only person, plausibly, is Varys, which might be his last huge moment, IF he survives the Battle of Winterfell, but then it'd be unclear what proof he has, unless Cersei admits it is true. It is, of course, just about possible for them to squeeze it in, but that's what it'd be: rushed, squeezed, and not in keeping with the kind of long-game, satisfying payoff they need to be focused on right now.
