Game Of Thrones: Ranking EVERY Major Death Worst To Best

9. Joffrey Baratheon

Game Of Thrones Ned Stark
HBO

Death: Poisoned at his wedding feast by Olenna Tyrell and Littlefinger.

Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) was a character everyone loved to hate. He was a horrendous but superbly-written villain and his cruelty and sadism drove pretty much everyone mad, be they a character or one of the viewers.

Therefore, his demise was another one of the show's most satisfying villainous deaths. Still, out of the Holy Trinity of satisfying Game of Thrones deaths - the others being Ramsay Bolton and Walder Frey - Joffrey's demise is the best.

For starters, the entire sequence set at his wedding is terrific and filled with beautifully-written moments, but what was equally important was just how shocking and unexpected this was. Joffrey's poisoning really came out of nowhere and it's unlikely many were expecting the show's main villain (at this time) to die at this point, especially so soon after the Red Wedding.

It also led to some great plot developments, such as Tyrion being accused of poisoning Joffrey, and was in general another beautifully-executed, fiendishly satisfying shock.
