Game Of Thrones: Ranking EVERY Major Death Worst To Best

1. The Red Wedding

Game Of Thrones Ned Stark
HBO

Death: Robb Stark (Richard Madden), Catelyn Stark, Talisa Stark (Oona Chaplin) and thousands of their allies were massacred at the wedding of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey.

Well, were you expecting anything else?

The Red Wedding is one of the greatest scenes in television history and it's perhaps the main thing which turned Game of Thrones into the cultural phenomenon it became.

Directed, written and acted to absolute perfection, the Red Wedding is a genuinely traumatic scene which represents even more than the loss of so many well-loved and good-hearted characters, including Robb Stark, the show's most prominent good guy at the time.

It represents the triumph of evil over good and a horrific, heart-breaking reminder of the chaos, tragedy and cruelty of the rich world in which Game of Thrones unfolds.

A gory, brutal nightmare and an emotionally devastating tragedy, the Red Wedding is by far and away the greatest Game of Thrones death scene ever and even the thought of it brings back all the chills, all the tears and the memory of your shocked facial expression reflected in the dark screen as the silent end credits rolled.

Obviously, in some ways we all wish the characters could have survived, but then again, the Red Wedding is so brilliant that it's safe to say we're all glad of its existence... however much it broke us.
