22. Gilly (And Baby Sam)

Gilly isn't a major character, however there is an importance to her: she's a great example of how things, and people, aren't always as they seem or as you've heard, and why it's important to not have prejudices.

She started off as a mistreated Wildling, and through her own wits and bravery, alongside the love of Sam, she's turned into a smart, thoughtful character who, along with Sam and Baby Sam, are the closest thing Westeros has to a functioning family unit. That'd make her death tragic, but also, given the first part, rather a waste too. She'll be down in the crypts for most of the battle, although we don't know how safe they'll remain, but she survived Watchers on the Wall and should survive this too.
