Game Of Thrones: Ranking The Probability Of Every Character Death At The Battle Of Winterfell

20. The Night King (& Viserion)

The Night King is the ultimate villain. Defeat him, and you defeat death. However, that's easier said than done.

The Night King not only appears to have various magical abilities, he's also got himself a dragon, which further boosts his power ranking heading into the Battle of Winterfell. What suggests he'll make it out alive, though, are two things:

Firstly, he's always been content to hang back. He sends in the wights and some White Walker lieutenants, and that's likely what Winterfell will be filled with. He's going after Bran, so there'll be some fighting, but it's not the thick of it. Second, if he is the major antagonist of the season - which he is, at least along with Cersei - and this is the Great War, it feels a bit soon to kill him off here. More likely he survives, chases the living south, and is then killed in, say, episode 5 instead. They can't just beat him at the first time of asking.

All that said, IF the showrunners do pull a fast one and quickly eliminate the threat from the North to shift focus to Cersei, then the Night King - and Viserion - could die. He might be engaged in battle with Dany and her dragons, or a mind battle with Bran, which puts him at a slight risk, but it'd still be a shock to see him go here.

Chance Of Death: 3/10
