Game Of Thrones: Ranking The Probability Of Every Character Death At The Battle Of Winterfell
13. Rhaegal
Drogon and Viserion probably should make it out of the Battle of Winterfell alive, because they're so connected to Daenerys and the Night King respectively. There should probably be another battle later on, if not quite as big in scale, where we see them take each other out.
The White Walkers need to die for the good guys to win, but it also fits that dragons need to die too. They're magical beings, like the Walkers, which upsets the natural balance of things. They came back into the world at around the same time, so it'd make sense for them to depart together too. But if we're having Drogon vs Viserion, where does that leave Rhaegal?
It's not for nothing that Jon rode him in the Season 8 premiere. Yes, it sets up Jon's parentage reveal (and for Dany to know it's true), but what if it's also establishing who Rhaegal is in order to kill him off? If all the dragons are to die, then it'd be wise to stagger the deaths somewhat - Viserion's already dead, Drogon dies last - which would make this episode a good place to kill Rhaegal, and we know the Night King has the means. The counter to this, though, is if the humans need to make a quick getaway, then getting as many people on dragons would be wise. Rhaegal could be kept out of things, instead used as a getaway dragon if/when things go south.
Chance Of Death: 6/10
