"I drink, and I know things."

Tyrion's immensely quotable line, first heard in the trailers, appears in this episode, and sets up what is a fantastic sequence as he goes to visit the dragons.

The scene doesn't carry as much tension as it would if anyone else from Daenerys' council had gone to visit them, because you know Tyrion isn't going to get killed, but there's still the chance he might end up burnt. Still, the show seems to know this, so doesn't play it just for the tension it could bring, but also for humour and warmth. Tyrion's tale about wanting a dragon is great, and it's a superb moment when he does finally unchain them.

Is it a ridiculous idea of his to go down there in the first place? Of course. Is it a little bit silly? Yeah. But does it work? Hell yes.

Now, onto what the episode didn't do so well...
