Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Red Woman'
Downs
2. Dorne
Oh great, we're back in Dorne. Everyone's favourite storyline from Season 5...
By far the weakest element of last year, Dorne appears again from the off here, as we see the other side of the fallout of Myrcella's death. In comparison to events elsewhere, this all moves rather swiftly, as first Doran and then Trystane Martell are killed by Ellaria and the Sand Snakes.
It feels a bit like Weiss and Benioff are aiming for a little course-correction here, given how poorly received Dorne was, but they don't manage it. Ellaria is right when she says Doran is weak, but he's not the only one. The Dorne storyline still feels like it belongs to a different show, filled with characters we don't care about and the most cringe-worthy dialogue you'll find in Westeros.
If this puts a full stop on the Dorne storyline then it's no doubt for the best. However, with Doran out of the way there's no one to even attempt at holding the peace, with Ellaria and the Sand Snakes are the centre of a potential war with the Lannisters. Based on what we've seen so far, they really don't seem up to it.
