Game Of Thrones Season 6: 11 Big Questions We're Asking After 'Oathbreaker'
"What kind of God would have a pecker that small?"
Oathbreaker, the third episode of Season 6, wasn't as great an episode as its predecessor, Home, but going forwards it might be a more important one.
As is so often the case, the show managed to pack a hell of a lot into its 50 minutes+ running time, with at least a couple of major moments likely to have a long-term impact on the show.
We saw Jon Snow, having hanged the mutineers who killed him, deal with his resurrection by deciding to take off the cloak of the Lord Commander, hand it to Dolorous Edd, and end his watch.
We got to witness the fabled Tower of Joy scene, with Ned Stark and co. taking on three members of Aerys Targaryen's Kingsguard. Not only did it change what we thought we knew about Ned Stark, it ended on a horrible tease that may lead to the answer of one of the show's big mysteries.
Outside of those, there was a lot of setup for the remainder of Season 6, as Tommen spoke with the High Sparrow, Daenerys faced a future among the dosh khaleen, Arya got her sight back, and Ramsay received a gift.
All of this will have repercussions throughout the remainder of this year and maybe beyond, and these are the questions we were left with after Oathbreaker.
11. Is There A Future For The Night's Watch?
With the impending threat of the White Walkers, the Night's Watch has never been so important since the early days after its inception. At the same time, however, its future has perhaps never looked so in doubt.
4 of its members have just been killed for mutiny, while their Lord Commander was murdered, resurrected, and has now left. He handed the cloak to Edd, saying he could wear it or burn it.
Will Dolorous Edd simply take over the running of Castle Black, be elected Lord Commander, and things remain as they are? At the very least you'd expect Davos, Melisandre, and some of the key wildlings (so Tormund, basically) to accompany Jon, so will the show return to the Wall without any central characters based there? Is this all going to be a moot point when the White Walkers approach, and the Wall comes down?
