Game Of Thrones Season 6: 11 Major Implications Of Jon Snow's Return

10. Only Life Can Pay For Death

The idea of life paying for death has been repeated throughout Game of Thrones, be it a sacrifice to the Lord of Light, the Many-Faced God, or one of the other deities worshipped in the Known World. It stands to reason, then, that if Jon Snow is to be resurrected, someone is going to have to pay with their life. And what's more, based on what we've seen from the way Melisandre (the most likely to bring him back, even though I'm still hoping it will be Bran) works, it'll need to be King's blood that she uses. While the Lannisters and Baratheons immediately spring to mind, their is some royalty further North: the Greyjoys. Balon was King of the Iron Islands, and there's no established rule on exactly what kind of King is required. Theon wouldn't appear to have much left to give, now that he's redeemed himself somewhat with helping Sansa escape, and his sacrifice - whether by Melisandre to R'hllor, or Bran to the weirwood tree and the Old Gods - would be a big way to bring Jon back.
