Game Of Thrones Season 6: 8 Things You Might've Missed In 'The Broken Man'

5. The Title Refers To McShane's Character

Game of Thrones titles rarely refer to just one element of any given episode, save for one-location instalments such as Blackwater, and The Broken Man was no different. Who is the broken man? Sandor? Jaime? Edmure?

Yes, it could be all of those, however it is also a nod to the books, and Ian McShane's character. Brother Ray is a combination of two book characters, Septon Meribald and the Elder Brother (with a little extra added on top), and the title comes from a speech given by the latter:

"Broken men are more deserving of our pity, though they may be just as dangerous."

That's just a tiny snippet, as it's a rather long speech, but worth checking out, and even though it sadly didn't make it into the show (McShane totally would've nailed it), the title is at least a nod towards it.
