Game Of Thrones Season 6: 8 Ways Battle Of The Bastards Will Be Different In The Books

1. Sansa Won't Kill Ramsay

Game of Thrones Sansa Rickon Stannis
HBO

It had to be Sansa. Theon was too far away, with no conceivable reason to come back. Jon had only just met him. No one else was a big enough character to get the kill, nor had they been through what Sansa had at his hands.

She deserved this moment and, after Jon had beaten him to a bloody pulp, seeing her set Ramsay's own hounds against him was immensely satisfying, complete with a little smirk as she walked away.

Great to watch, great moment for the character, won't happen in the books.

Sansa deserved to make this kill in the show, because of what she's been through. She simply doesn't have those same experiences or motivations in the books. Yes, Ramsay has taken her home, but apart from that he doesn't really mean anything to her. It can't simply be repeated with the character who DID marry Ramsay either. If it was actually Arya Stark, then it would certainly work that way, but it's hard to see them giving this big death to Jeyne Poole.

Theon is still around Winterfell, because he's held captive by Stannis. He would be deserving of killing Ramsay, but the likelihood is that, either before or after the Battle of Winterfell, he and Asha (Yara in the show) will make their escape back to the Iron Islands.

So, if the Battle of the Bastards does happen, we're running a little short on possible contenders, and indeed the most likely is actually Jon Snow himself, meaning one bastard kills another in their titular battle.

How do you think the battle will differ in the books? Will it even happen? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
