Anyone who has so much as looked up something about Game of Thrones online has probably came across R+L=J. Whether it's someone who has read the books but never watched the show, vice versa, or likes both, even if they don't really get involved in fan discussions or theories, chances are they've heard the one that says Jon Snow's real parents are Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. It's the biggest fan theory in the saga's history, one of the biggest fan theories pertaining to any show/film/book/etc around, more a plot point waiting to be confirmed.

Now, we've got that confirmation. Sort of.

The show doesn't explicitly state that the child we see here is Jon Snow (nor does it confirm Rhaegar's the father), but it doesn't need to. Everyone knows. Who else could it be, after all? The way she says Robert will kill him. "Promise me, Ned." "His name is..." What, exactly, his actual name is remains to be seen (some say it looked like she said Aerys, but it's not conclusive).

The scene is one myself and many others have been longing for, and it played out wonderfully. Lyanna, about to die but not before she's secured her son's future. Ned, taking on not just a child, but a promise to his sister, and a lie to everyone else he knows, including the child himself. Jon, revealed not as the son of Ned Stark, but of Lyanna and Rhaegar; half-Stark, half-Targaryen, and the nephew of Daenerys.

Cue that cut to Jon's face, just incase there was any doubt.
