Cause Of Death: Jumped from the window of the Red Keep

Was there ever a chance Tommen wouldn't die in Season 6? Not really. Maggy the Frog's prophecy meant that all of her children were destined to die before she did, and with Joffrey dying in Season 4 and Myrcella in Season 5, the clock was ticking for poor Tommen.

The way it happened was a little more surprising, as it would've been easy for him to be caught up in the wildfire blast. Instead, the show made the smart decision of having him forced to stay in the Red Keep, doing enough to think it might be sparing him, and certainly convincing Cersei that's the case. Then he watches the chaos unfold from afar, knowing his wife has just been killed, walks away, and it's that brief pause that says something is about to happen. And he's back in shot, and then he jumps.

It kills off a character who didn't really have much left to offer, once Margaery and the High Sparrow were dead, and adds a touch of poignancy to it that might've been lost had he died in the Sept. It also served as an effective method of pushing Cersei onto the Iron Throne, which wasn't her goal, and robbing her of her one last redeeming quality, thus allowing her to truly transform into the Mad Queen.
