Game Of Thrones Season 7: 12 Big Questions After 'Stormborn'
12. What Next For Theon?
The actions of Theon provide one of the episode's biggest talking points, not to mention one of its most divisive. Confronted by his uncle, who has taken hold of Yara, he jumps overboard to save himself rather than attempting to save his sister's life.
While some viewers aren't happy with his actions, since it sees him returning to the Reek character he'd supposedly left behind (and leaves Yara for dead), it does make sense for the character. His blank stare clearly indicates him seeing Ramsay when he looks at Euron, and the scars left by his torture run far deeper than a missing penis, and his actions here speak to that, making this a much better character moment than him saving the day.
But what does it mean for Theon going forward? Now that he's escaped, will he simply go back to Daenerys and tell him what he's done? Might he try and go home to Pyke, despite being mostly unwelcome? Or could he become embroiled in some other storyline?
Theon's journey is far from over, and there is likely to be a real internal struggle over his actions, not to mention the stage being set for a bigger redemptive moment later on, which you'd think would still involve Yara as well.
