Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Eastwatch'
1. An Episode Of Fits And Starts
It's a slightly odd episode, this, in that it comes towards the end of the season (again, it's hard to believe we're so close to the finale), but feels a lot like a season premiere.
The chaos and carnage of last week means a lot of resetting needs to be done here, and so we get another episode that deals with the fallout of the major events, comparable to how Dragonstone picked up from The Winds of Winter.
There are lots of great moments here, and some big developments, but it also feels like an episode of fits and starts. Things can't advance or be resolved too much, because we've still got another couple of episodes to get through, so it has to start table-dressing all over again, checking-in with different characters, giving us brief snippets, and, of course, time-travelling all over Westeros (which at this stage isn't even something to complain about really, it's just a matter-of-fact that's how the show works).
It's an episode that is largely all setup for the wars to come, then, but at least the payoff looks like being worth it and then some.
