Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Queen's Justice'
Downs...
2. Wasted Bronn
The episode gave us a fleeting glimpse of Bronn. Just one tiny, insignificant moment, before snatching it away from us without calling attention to his presence or letting him utter a single word.
Is it a small relatively grievance in light of the rest of this episode? Sure. But Bronn is a beloved character, and one of the most purely entertaining on the whole show. That remains a widely held opinion, and yet belies the fact he's had very little to say or do for quite some time.
The brief sight of him here is like a deliberate tease, and it's frustrating because of how good he is. Indeed, it'd be better not to have him in the episode at all.
This does speak to a wider issue with Game of Thrones, which is so often a juggling act. It has so many storylines and characters to visit - even now, despite many of them coalescing - that it can't always keep track of them all, and momentum with some inevitably stalls.
Arya built up a head of steam in the first two episodes, but has to take a week off; we've not seen the Hound and co since the premiere, despite how brilliant (and important) that scene was. It's an accepted part of how Thrones works, but perhaps more jarring now so many strands are being woven together with such little time left, and definitely a little grating.
