5. Arya's Actual Romance

For the past two weeks, the conversation on Arya has been split between those who love what the show has done with her (giving her a romantic pay-off with Gendry and her killing the Night King) and those who believe the story-telling substance isn't there for them.

On the latter point, yes it is and even if it wasn't, that's sort of the whole point of Game Of Thrones. You can't make Mary Sue accusations of a show whose "idealised insert" characters (Arya, Sam, Jon, Tyrion...) are all underdogs with something wrong with them, and Arya's arc literally earns her the pay-off. The former point is more pertinent, because she and Gendry hadn't seen it each other for ages and their sudden escalation to sex was a bit quick.

BUT there's good news on that front, because it seems we're going to see more of Arya and Gendry (or Arndry as you shippers might be calling it - who knows, Tumblr is boring now so it's not worth checking) and it looks like we'll be getting more of their romance. Good, let us believe them. Just not to the point where it's obvious Gendry is going to be killed.
