Game Of Thrones Season 8: 8 Ups And 1 Down From 'A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms'

6. The Reveal

Game of Thrones Jon Daenerys
HBO

Last week saw Jon learn the horrifying truth: that he is not Ned Stark's bastard, but instead Aegon Targaryen, sixth of his name and rightful heir to the Iron Throne. And this week, he tells Daenerys.

For as much as everyone wondered how Jon would react, it's been even more fun to speculate as to how Dany would take the news, because whereas Jon is almost always honourable, Dany has shown a previous predilection for some more extreme responses.

The reveal is brief, as it's cut short by the three blasts signalling the White Walkers - yet one more timely reminder of how futile the squabbling over a chair has been - and yet brilliantly done too. It nicely touches upon Rhaegar and Lyanna's love, with Dany further confirming just how good a person her brother was, while she herself refuses to accept the truth while also suggesting she realises Jon isn't (and wouldn't) lie. There's so much weight placed upon this, and like with last week, it's incredible to see them pulling it off.
