Game Of Thrones Season 8 Breakdown: What 'The Bells' REALLY Means

9. Tyrion Repays Jaime's Favours (And Is In Real Danger)

Quite why Tyrion thought telling Dany about Varys knowing Jon's secret would go down anyway other than the way it did is completely illogical, but Tyrion hasn't always been the smartest sword in the armoury in the last few seasons. At least it proves he's still doing what he thinks is in her best interests.

All he did was take away his lifeline, with Dany telling him that the next time he failed her, she'd kill him, or words to that effect. Naturally, he's then immediately put into the impossible position of having to barter for Jaime's life when he's taken captive as well as the lives of everyone in King's Landing when he realises that Dany will be unmoved on her plan to gain vengeance for Missandei and Rhaegal's deaths no matter what he says.

He frees Jaime, repaying him for freeing him from his father's captivity so long ago and immediately puts a target on his back. He can be the only one to have freed his brother and as Jaime assures Tyrion, Dany will execute him when she realises. This was Tyrion's hero moment as he tried to give up his own life to save the million residents of King's Landing. In the end, both might be lost, but we definitely know that he is in imminent danger now.
