Game Of Thrones Season 8 Premiere: 12 Things You Might've Missed In 'Winterfell'

6. The Impact Of Jon Snow

The Last Heart scene is one of the best of the episode, full of atmosphere and tension, which is only broken by Tormund's "I've always had blue eyes" gag.

After that, there's a touching bonding moment between Edd and Tormund, which just goes to show how much they came to respect one another - and that's a low-key shoutout to Jon Snow's ability as a leader (h/t to Redditor u/ravenclawkeeper).

The Night's Watch and Wildlings fought for centuries, but here we have the Lord Commander of the former and the leader of the latter, embracing like brothers. That's all because of Jon Snow bringing them together and their faith in him. In an episode where we once again hear that Jon is the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, it seems like quite a pertinent moment to showcase just why he would be a good King (another example of those Jaehaerys I vibes, for fans of Targ history), even if he doesn't want to be.
