Game Of Thrones Season 8 Premiere: 12 Things You Might've Missed In 'Winterfell'

4. Euron's Crew Of Mutes

Season 7 had already more or less confirmed that Euron's ships were crewed by mutes, as we saw the tongues of captured sailors being ripped out, but this episode more overtly tells us that is the case.

Euron reveals that he keeps Yara around for someone to have a conversation with, because none of his crew can talk, which is taken from the pages of the book.

The show also slightly toyed with book readers in this scene, with Euron following it up by taking a drink out of a flask and offering some to his niece. In the novels, he regularly drinks shade of the evening, a wine made by the warlocks of Qarth that dyes his lips blue because of how much he consumes.

In a preview chapter of The Winds of Winter, The Forsaken, Euron has imprisoned his brother, Aeron, and forces him to drink the wine. For a brief moment, it looked like the show might do something similar with Euron and Yara, but alas, it was not to be (and whether it was even a deliberate hint is unclear).
