Game Of Thrones Season 8 Premiere: 8 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Winterfell'
Game of Thrones is back, baby!
After almost *two years* off screens, Game of Thrones has finally returned to our TV screens. That is a bittersweet feeling, because it's now the eighth and final season, with just six episodes standing before the end of the show.
Well, now just five episodes.
The first episode, simply titled Winterfell, has to pick up the pieces of where we left off way back when. To quickly recap: Cersei promised to send the Lannister army North to fight the army of the dead (but was lying); Jon bent the knee and fell in love with Daenerys, with the pair having sex on a boat; and, oh yes, the Night King got himself a dragon and brought the Wall crashing down, marching his troops into the land of the living.
It's against this backdrop that the premiere airs (with some new opening credits), with a convergence of characters at the seat of House Stark, not least Jon and Dany themselves, the latter much to the chagrin of Sansa. Cersei, meanwhile, holds power in the south, but to what end?
We're in the Great (End)Game now. The dead are here, and it's time for the living to fight them. That all kicks off nicely in Winterfell, although not without a few issues along the way. With spoilers, of course.
