Game Of Thrones Season 8 Premiere: 8 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Winterfell'
6. The Setup Of Bronn's Story
Bronn is a firm fan-favourite - indeed, he has been since his entrance in Season 1 - but is the kind of character they could've expended with before now. His story in the books is done, but because he's so great on the show, the showrunners have found a means of keeping him around. That's not always worked - we don't need to talk about Dorne in-depth again - but it's interesting that they've found potentially his most interesting arc yet in the eighth season.
Jaime has headed to Winterfell, but Bronn is still in King's Landing (and trying to enjoy himself), when given a new mission by Qyburn: kill the two Lannisters who betrayed Cersei (with THAT crossbow, no less).
For Bronn, it poses a fascinating dilemma: kill the two people who are the closest things he has to real friends, or choose the gold (and the castle) he's always wanted. As the battle with the Night King means a clearer distinction between good and evil, it's great to see the show keeping those moral grey areas alive.
