Game Of Thrones Season 8: Ranking Every Character Worst To Best

31. Euron Greyjoy

Euron Death

Contrast to Gilly, Euron Greyjoy is a character who did quite a lot in Season 8. He returned to King's Landing with the Golden Company. He slept with the Queen. He killed a dragon. He thinks he's the man who killed Jaime Lannister.

That's really the problem with Euron, who wasn't so much a character as he was a plot device, used to fill whatever gap they had in the narrative. That's not a problem unique to Season 8, as it was very much present in Season 7, but the final season confirmed that Euron was a character they never figured out how to use. They didn't commit to the more mystical and wicked book version, instead ending up with a swaggering mess caught halfway between that and Jack Sparrow, and his death scene was particularly awful.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
