Game Of Thrones Season 8 Trailer Review: 7 Ups And 5 Downs

5. Once Again, The Music Is Perfection

The whole presentation of the trailer is very, very good. Putting aside the over-reliance on darkness, the shot choices are pretty much immaculate and the story that they seem to tell (more of which soon) is very cleverly staged.

But it's the music that really stars here, as it has in previous trailers. The decision to recompose musical elements we're already familiar with is always super effective and it works particularly well here, building to a crescendo and generally helping whip up the hype frenzy. And then we get that ominous quiet piano rendition of the main title at the end - a rug pull at the end of the build-up and you immediately know that we're being sold the promise of some seriously troubling emotions.

You could watch this trailer without any images and it would work almost just as well. That's the power of that music.
