They're the stars of the show despite rarely featuring, but what do the terrifying white walkers look like in the books? They're tall, gaunt, with pale milky flesh and blazing blue eyes. They carry incredibly thin crystal swords cold enough to shatter anything that touches them. They're elite warriors, both quick and fast, and merciless, as demonstrated at the very beginning of the first chapter of the series.

In the books, they're mainly referred to as The Others, and were said to ride direwolves, mamoths, and bears, while they're also accompanied by giant spiders in battle, though a lot of details about the walkers come from rumours and myths.
