Game Of Thrones: 10 Flashbacks That Must Be In Season 5

10. Summerhall Fire

Most of the story we are witness to in Game of Thrones is a result of the actions of Mad King Aerys, and this flashback scene would explain how he became King in the first place. You see, Aerys II was never meant to ascend to the Iron Throne, it was always supposed to be his uncle Prince Duncan the Small. Unfortunately for the Targaryen dynasty, that never happened because of a tragic and very suspicious fire at Summerhall, which was the summer estate of the family. That fire resulted in the deaths of Duncan the Small, the Crown Prince and the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall. Most people in Westeros seem to think that this fire was caused by Targaryen attempts to awaken dragons, although there are other rumours. Those rumours suggest that the young Aerys, who was well known for his fascination with fire, burned down Summerhall and murdered his family in a sick and twisted plot to gain ascension to the Iron Throne. Given his madness and future affiliation with fire and that isn€™t hard to imagine. Add in the fascinating detail that Prince Rhaegar was born during the fire and you have an absorbing yet tragic event that needs to be explored
