Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Mockingbird"

10. Cersei Has Picked The Mountain To Fight For Her

Not content with the justice being served at his trial, Tyrion opted for a trial by combat last episode. This understandably pissed Jaime off since he€™d worked out a deal with Tywin, but Tyrion points out the deal was exactly what their father wanted, and it felt good to take that away from him and tell off the people of King€™s Landing. Jaime sarcastically congratulates him and says he didn€™t realise Tyrion was the type of person who would die for pride. Tyrion€™s not willing to give up that easily, however, reminding his brother that he€™s already survived one trial by combat. Unfortunately for Tyrion, Jaime won€™t be able to help him for this trial, as he can€™t even beat a stableboy with his left hand. Tyrion supposes he€™ll have to depend on Bronn again to save him, but also wonders whom Cersei€™s picked as her champion. That honour goes to Ser Gregor Clegane, whom we haven€™t seen since season 2. Our reintroduction features him enjoying one of his favorite hobbies: executing prisoners shirtless. Although they€™re provided weapons, the prisoners are brutally cut down by The Mountain. After watching the slaughter, Cersei walks down and thanks Clegane for coming to the Capitol so quickly. A man of few words, he asks her whom he€™s fighting. She asks if it matters, and he simply shakes his head. The Mountain is one of the most powerful soldiers in all of Westeros, never mind the King's army. The guy was able to lift a guy impaled on his sword all the way into the air! Whomever Tyrion picks to fight for him is going to have a tough time going up against this beast. However, if you€™ve been paying attention throughout the season, you probably had a good guess on who that might be before it actually happened. Anyway, More on that later.
