When asked to briefly summarize Game of Thrones, it's generally much easier to say that the series is awesome than to bother to try to describe what it's actually about. Where to start? The combination of political, supernatural, and pseudo-historical elements in every single episode defies easy explanation. By all rights, Game of Thrones shouldn't even make sense as a show. And yet, it works. There's backstabbing and intrigue! There's a magical wall to defend a realm from wild raiders and ice zombies! There's violence and nudity! There's...incest, if you like that sort of thing! There's something for everyone, really, and the show manages to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. An episode may leave as many viewers squirming with discomfort as quivering with excitement. A scene that has half of the audience averting their eyes may have the other half eager to rewind. A moment may traumatize one person and titillate another. Still, some moments are so universally bizarre and utterly unexpected that everybody cannot help but wonder what the f*ck just happened on their screens. Did that knight really just take a pause from his tryst with his twin to fling a 10-year old out of a window? Was the protagonist really beheaded in the ninth episode of the series? Was a man really interrogated by having a rat burrow into his torso? The first two seasons of the show were full of moments that left us dumbstruck; somehow, however, Season 3 managed to top them both in terms of absolute WTFery. So, in honor of the upcoming premiere of Season 4, here are the 10 greatest "WTF?!" moments of Season 3 (in chronological order).
