3. What If Tyrion Hadn't Stopped At The Same Inn As Catelyn Stark?
HBOCatelyn Stark was just leaving the south as Tyrion had just returned from his journey to the wall, and as fate would have it the two coincidentally arrive at the same inn, in which Tyrion reveals her identity, thereby causing Catelyn to retaliate by rallying the occupants of said inn to capture him so he may be tried for the maiming of her son. Catelyn and her supporters then escorted Tyrion to the Eyrie where he almost fell to his death through the moon door, meanwhile tensions rose because of his absence, leading to war between North and South. What if Tyrion hadn't stopped at the same inn as Catelyn Stark? Had Tyrion simply stopped elsewhere for lunch then tensions wouldn't have risen between the Starks and Lannisters because of his kidnapping, Jamie wouldn't have publicly assaulted Eddard, Robert would not have been stressed enough to warrant a hunting trip, meaning his fatal bout with a boar never occurs. With Robert's health not at risk, Eddard would have all the time in the world to tell Robert about his illegitimate sons and Cersei's incest relations with her brother. Seems like a nice clean win for House Stark, if only Tyrion had not tried Lady Stark's patience that day.
