Game Of Thrones: 5 Winners And 5 Losers In 'The Mountain And The Viper'

2. Sansa

Sansa Stark isn€™t an innocent child any longer; she put on her game face and grew some serious balls this week. Summoned to give her witness€™ statement regarding the manner of her aunt€™s alleged suicide, Sansa puts on the waterworks and delivers an impressive show to not only confirm Littlefinger€™s lie, but put him in the unusual position of not knowing where he stands with her. For the first time in their relationship, Sansa knows Littlefinger€™s game, but Littlefinger doesn€™t know hers. Also consider that with Lady Lysa out the frame and Littlefinger back-tracking (in relation to her), Sansa is suddenly holding all the cards at the Eyrie. She should now have untold influence over little Lord Robin, and for the moment it will be her chance to insert influence over the lesser lords and ladies of the Vale. Never count out Littlefinger though, because it may only take him a short while to regain the upper hand over her, but for the immediate future, Sansa has the opportunity (and now the guile) to really become a force of power behind-the-scenes in the Vale. This could be the beginning of a sharp transition in Sansa€™s character. For much of her arc so far, Sansa has been the victim; a day-dreaming child who€™s romantic ideas about the politics of the world was ground and crushed over a long period of torture and torment at the hands of the Lannisters. Now she is free of them, she can grow stronger from the harsh lessons that she learned during her captivity, and so use them as a means of playing the game to her own advantage. You could say this transition is signified by her wardrobe change in her final scene of the episode. The dress she wears then is strikingly more regal than anything we have seen her in previously. It suggests that its wearer is someone of great power and influence, and this is hopefully something we can expect to see of Sansa in the future.
