Games Of Thrones Season 7: What 'Eastwatch' Really Means

14. The End Of The House Of Tarly?

Tarlys Game Of Thrones
HBO

A great many Houses have fallen out of existence entirely in the history of the seven kingdoms, but few would have been wiped out in such quick succession as have been recently. The Martells (and the Sands as an off-shoot), the Tyrells and now the Tarlys have been wiped of their key figures.

But House Tarly isn't completely gone. Lady Melessa Tarly and her daughter Talla Tarly are still alive, with the latter becoming the head of the House in the wake of her father and brother's demises. Not having a male head no longer counts for much when the likes of Lyanna Mormont are pulling up trees.

So what's next for them, and what about Sam Tarly? He's turned his back on the Black, he's now no longer a maester-in-training and he could, theoretically take over his family home on Horn Hill. Whether he will or not remains to be seen, but it would be a great culmination of his arc after his father cast him off as inferior.

Imagine the irony of him surviving and taking his seat in the Reach, having killed a White Walker personally and helped end the Long Night once more...
